Teacher and Staff Resources

  • The BOCES Snap Media Library provides thousands of digital video streaming resources.

Every staff member has access to the Snap Media Library which is found at http://snap.cayboces.org/tomms2/index.php/snap/login/redirected_from/search or go to Cayuga/Onondaga BOCES' webpage [http://www.cayboces.org]. Hover over 'Instructional Support Services' along the top of the page and select click on 'Instructional Support Services.' The link to the Snap Media Library will appear in a list on the left under 'Instructional Support Services Home.' Every teacher has login credentials; please see the Library Staff for this info or if you need help with logging in.

Please encourage your students to sign up for a library card to CCC Library, particularly those of you teaching an AP or college level course. We have a great collection of resources but other local libraries can fill the gaps of what we cannot provide. Any alumni and/or residents of Cayuga or Oswego Counties may apply for a library card to access the library, utilize resources, and check materials out. There is a children’s reading room and books available for checkout there as well. Any student who is taking a course through CCC may also access the Library’s databases. They must have a college ID number and need to apply for online access through the college’s website: http://www.cayuga-cc.edu/library/.

The school has a subscription to Turn It In if any teacher is interested in creating an account and setting up classes to turn in their written assignments. Let Mrs. Berry know if you would like to utilize this plagiarism prevention resource and/or would like a tutorial.

The school subscribes to a number of databases which include Gale Virtual Reference Library (eBooks & multiple databases), Encyclopedia Britannica, EBSCO (Business, Health, Spanish materials, Authors, General Science, etc.), various online encyclopedias, and TeachingBooks.net (author info, thematic lessons, book lists, links to plot summaries, character analysis, discussion questions, etc.). A majority of these databases can be accessed from outside of the school. Access to the databases can be found on the home page of our online catalog (look for the cloud icon and '24/7 Database Access'), and only requires one password. Please see Mrs. Berry for this single sign-on password.

There is a small professional collection of books available for staff. All staff members are welcome to check out books from the regular collection as well. The library receives a regular shipment of books throughout the school year so feel free to stop in and check out the new arrivals. If you are curious as to what is currently in the collection, check out the library catalog: http://ush.scoolaid.net/bin/home. Suggestions from staff and students are always welcome so if you know of anything that your colleagues or students might enjoy, please let Mrs. Berry know. What is not available can usually be ordered through Inter-Library Loan (ILL) as well.

Testing services are offered for your students if they have missed a test or need to be sent from your class. Each staff member has a folder in a file box in the circulation desk area. Let your students know that their missed test is here and Mrs. Berry or another staff member will retrieve it from your folder. When the test is completed it will be folded in half lengthwise and returned to your folder to be picked up at your convenience. Unless you have requested it, students will not leave the library with a completed test. If you send a student out of class, please try to send them with a pass. Please call ahead to make sure that Mrs. Berry is available to accept students to take tests.

If you would like to sign up for a class to use the library, please stop in or email to check our availability. Mrs. Berry will try to accommodate your requests the best that she can; the balcony is available for double bookings. Please try to give her one day notice; the schedule is emailed out at the end of the previous day. Emergencies may come up but please try to notify Mrs. Berry in advance. She is available to review databases, citation information, research strategies, and other information literacy skills for students. The balcony is in use for part of the day for MS Academic Labs and may not always be available.
